Even 23 years after its release, fans of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind continue to reimagine the classic RPG. This time, the game has been transformed into a full isometric experience, reminiscent of the original Diablo or Baldur's Gate.

YouTuber Mehrunes Mike showcased his custom build based on OpenMW, the unofficial open-source engine for Morrowind. A mod called OpenNevermind turns the engine into a foundation for isometric games — and as seen in the video below, the RPG looks quite impressive from a top-down perspective.

The project was originally created as an April Fools’ joke, but the community liked the implementation so much that the creator released a playable version with an improved UI. You can download the mod archive via this link. Note: it only works with OpenMW.

Incidentally, new gameplay footage for Skywind — a fan remake of Morrowind on the Skyrim engine — was also recently released. However, the project still has no confirmed release date.
