Ubisoft management did not deny the news that Tencent might buy out the studio to stabilize it. However, «all strategic options» are currently being worked out.

Recall that earlier, Bloomberg reported on negotiations between Ubisoft owners and Chinese Tencent in order to fix the studio's financial problems through its privatization. Ubisoft itself cooperates quite closely with the company, and the latter even holds 10% of the studio's shares. Journalists mentioned that the negotiations are still at an early stage.

Today, Ubisoft sent out an official message to journalists from some publications, in which it commented on the rumor:

Ubisoft has noted recent press speculation regarding potential interests around the Company. It regularly reviews all its strategic options in the interest of stakeholders and will inform the market if and when appropriate.

By the way, the news about possible privatization was also commented on by the famous journalist and insider Tom Henderson. According to him, the deal with Tencent could result in mass layoffs at the studio. He expects Ubisoft to lose up to 30-40% of its staff.

Earlier, he said that Ubisoft would release a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag relatively soon. The studio allegedly plans to release 10 more games in the AC series over the next five years.
