The G-46B puzzle in We Were Here Tomorrow is tricky because it requires coordination between two players: one sees the clues, while the other presses the symbols at the adjacent G-46C panel. That is confusing enough, and the symbol you need to assemble is hardly intuitive, either. Here's where to move the lever, which four buttons to press, and why the circles must not touch.
Where to Find G-46B
The G-46B panel is in the Temporal Research Centre, in the Utilities sector. The puzzle is part of a sequence of tasks you need to complete to restart the generator and restore power to the centre.
G-46B is not a separate lock. It is one puzzle split into two parts: the G-46B side has the clue screens and a lever, while the G-46C side has a wall of 15 symbol buttons, arranged in three rows of five, with four lights above them. The players stand in separate rooms, so one can only see G-46B and the other can only see G-46C.
What Each Player Sees
To activate the panels, the player at G-46C must stand on the pressure plate. The screens on the G-46B side turn on while that player remains on the plate.
G-46B Puzzle Solution
Count the rows on the G-46C panel from top to bottom and the buttons in each row from left to right.
The player at G-46C steps onto the pressure plate. The player at G-46B moves the lever into the blue zone so that the shape with the circle lies horizontally at the bottom of the symbol. Then they read the clue on the left screen and the rule about circles on the right screen aloud to their partner.
Now the player at G-46C presses four buttons:
- Top row, button 3: a horizontal bar with arrows pointing upward at both ends;
- Top row, button 4: a small diamond;
- Middle row, button 2: a circle with a vertical line through its centre;
- Bottom row, button 3: a diamond with a line extending upward from its top point.
If all four lights above the G-46C panel turn on, the puzzle is solved. The monitor at G-46B will show the completed symbol, containing every element from the left screen: a diamond at the top, a cross beneath it with a rectangular bar and arrows at the ends, a large circle in the centre with small circles on either side, and a second diamond at the bottom.
The main trap here is the rule about circles. It applies only to circles: arrows, diamonds, and lines can overlap your partner's shape, and in the finished symbol they even pass straight through the large circle. But do not touch any buttons showing circles that are joined or overlap. Those are the figure eight (middle row, button 4) and the interlocking rings (bottom row, button 1).
If the Lights Do Not Turn On
First, check the lever on the G-46B side. Unless it is in the blue zone and the light above it is glowing yellow, even the correct buttons will not count.
If the levers do not have a blue zone yet, the room probably still has no power. Complete the step that comes before restarting the generator, then return to the panels.
Made a mistake halfway through? After the fourth press, the panel checks the combination and automatically resets it if the answer is wrong. Start again, but check the lever's position first.
The combination does not change between sessions, so if you are pressing the right buttons but the lights still will not turn on, look for the problem with the lever or the room's power supply.
After solving the puzzle, you still need to finish starting the generator: activate the energy target and pull the chain together with your partner.
