Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, the open-world post-apocalyptic shooter, released in Steam Early Access on March 6th, and players have wasted no time diving in and sharing their thoughts.

Unfortunately, the reception has been lukewarm, with the game currently sitting at a 63% positive rating on Steam. Common criticisms include weak graphics, poor level design, wooden animations, questionable voice acting, and a price point that some feel is too high for the current state. Players are also reporting terrible optimization, with the game struggling to maintain a smooth framerate even on high-end hardware like the RTX 4090. Russian-speaking players have also pointed out issues with the quality of the Russian localization.

Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is set in an alternate version of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, and follows the Planewalker, a seeker of the highly energetic Chernobylite material. According to the developers, the current Early Access build contains approximately 30-40% of the final planned world and story content.

In related news, the release window for the next patch for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was recently revealed.
