While Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon and Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim are often compared without much reason, the two games do share some common ground. As Wild Hunt's narrative director Philipp Weber recently revealed, Bethesda's project actually played a role in Wiedźmin 3's success.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Weber explained that Skyrim helped introduce a massive audience to open-world RPGs, which in turn contributed to the strong reception of Wiedźmin 3's E3 demo:

Skyrim was the open world game, and we could feel that suddenly a lot of people who loved Skyrim started paying attention to Wiedźmin 3. We could kind of feel this… big wave, touching us. There was an excitement, where we could tell that the general public was taking notice. It was a very interesting thing to see.

As part of Wiedźmin 3: Dziki Gon’s 10th anniversary celebration, CD Projekt RED continues to share behind-the-scenes stories. Recently, the developers spoke about a highly realistic mechanic that was eventually scrapped, as well as a Mass Effect 2-style mission that was once considered for the game’s finale.
