A city-building simulation about the great cities of the Roman Empire, from its early beginnings to its height and the city of Rome itself. Across a series of missions, the player builds and develops a city, manages its daily life, and makes decisions that affect its residents and its ties to the empire. CivCity: Rome focuses on individual cities rather than building an empire made up of many settlements.
City development involves research, production, culture, and happiness, with a technology tree of more than 70 advances. By placing buildings, the player shapes an urban community and can look inside villas, forums, and baths. The game also follows a Roman family across generations, as it may rise from a humble hut to a palace.
