Multiplatform shooter-action Far Cry 3 with RPG elements was released by Ubisoft in 2012 and immediately gained huge popularity. The game is dedicated to survival on islands in the Pacific Ocean, where tourists-players, accidentally found far from civilization, law, and order, must survive in single-player, cooperative, or multiplayer battles against local fauna, pirates, and mercenaries.

Since Far Cry 2 , the developers have radically revised the gameplay mechanics, invented a lot of new things, and attracted players with an exciting plot featuring many characters and unusual gameplay.

The events of Far Cry 3 unfold on the fictional archipelago of Rook. It consists of large islands North and South (single-player game), and smaller islands for cooperative and multiplayer modes.

The archipelago is made in the stereotype of a "paradise": tropical climate, blue sea, golden beaches, dense jungles, mountain rivers, and small lakes, high mountains, and numerous underwater caves. All of this can be explored by the player and will be rewarded.

In all modes, the basic gameplay of Far Cry 3 is similar. The main focus is on weapons of six types — pistols, submachine guns, assault rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, and various exotic weapons. There is various equipment — a bulletproof vest, wallet, bag, and wingsuit.

Weapons can be upgraded with different modifications, and there are also unique "golden" guns with excellent characteristics. Animals can be killed to improve your equipment, and natural resources can be used to craft various health syringes: for health, speed, sense, and so on.

In some modes, vehicles are used for movement: cars, machine-gun mounted vehicles, inflatable boats.

The campaign is the easiest mode where the player learns basic skills. Their task is to capture radio towers to unlock new areas. In each area, there are from one to three enemy camps that need to be cleared, after which they are taken over by the Rakyat.

Players can encounter enemies while traveling across the map, but the enemies do not attempt to reclaim the settlements. By killing enemies, hunting animals, exploring the game world, and collecting gear and upgrades from various crates, the player gains experience, which is spent on upgrading their character and acquiring new abilities.

Over time, players can learn to kill multiple enemies at once, increase the duration of drugs, or run indefinitely.

The story of Far Cry 3 immediately captivates and keeps you intrigued. It begins with a group of friends who are into extreme adventures.

During one of their skydiving jumps, the group lands on an unfamiliar island that only seems uninhabited. The tourists are quickly captured by local pirates, whose leader, Vaas, demonstrates his craziness through strange speeches and a penchant for brutal killings.

The main character is named Jason Brody, and he, along with his brothers Riley and Grant, friends Oliver and Keith, and girlfriends Daisy and Lisa, find themselves in captivity. By a miracle, Jason manages to escape, after which he is found by the local Rakyat leader, Dennis Rogers, who briefly explains the situation.

It turns out that the archipelago has long been taken over by pirates working for the largest slave trader, drug lord, and arms dealer in the region, Hoyt Volker, who is guarded by mercenaries. Both groups terrorize the Rakyat and send unfortunate tourists as slaves.

Now, Jason must free his friends, kill Vaas and Hoyt, and meet several important secondary characters — the mushroom-addled doctor Earnhardt, the queen of all Rakyat, Citra, and CIA agent Willis Huntley. Each will hold keys to the final battle.

Far Cry 3 features its own cooperative mode designed for very coordinated team actions from 2 to 4 players. The difficulty is automatically adjusted to the level and number of players, which encourages replaying it multiple times. The action takes place on linear levels, in the form of small islands of the archipelago.

The plot here is different: four "mercenaries" are abandoned by their captain and must fight through hordes of pirates and mercenaries to reach the boat that will take them away from here. Players can choose from the Scottish gangster Callum, former police officer Leonard, Russian mercenary Mikhail, and former US Army soldier Trisha.

At the beginning of the game, the character chooses weapons and ammunition suitable for the role they want to play in the team, although there are no strict classes. Players can create a "set" for a sniper or assault class and switch it between rounds without changing characters. Upgrading is present, but in a different form: the more kills you get and the higher your level, the better weapons and modifications you will receive.

Victory here is more important than the story — hordes of enemies can be destroyed in many different ways.

The game also features a typical shooter multiplayer — shoot at enemies, earn points, complete tasks on the map, and respawn at a new point after death. Leveling up is generally similar to cooperative play — you need to play a lot, level up, and improve your weapons to become a strong player.
