Platformówka
Jeden z najstarszych gatunków gier wideo — platformówka — wyróżnia się szczególnym stylem rozgrywki. Gracz kontroluje postać, która porusza się po poziomie, skacze po „platformach”, wspina się po schodach, zbiera przedmioty i walczy z wrogami. Inteligencja przeciwników zazwyczaj jest słaba lub całkowicie nieobecna. Niektóre platformówki są nastawione na szybkość i reakcję, inne bardziej przypominają łamigłówki, a jeszcze inne wymagają od gracza odpowiedniej kombinacji ruchów, aby pokonać przeszkody.
