This third-person action RPG combines strategy and castle defense, casting the player as a defender facing an invading army of undead, orcs, and goblins. With the king near death, the hero must hold the battlefield alongside summoned troops. Heroes and Castles offers a choice of three heroes, whose levels can be raised and abilities learned; randomized runes and loot provide further rewards.
Players summon different types of units, including archers, pikemen, mages, and giants, while building towers, reinforcing castle walls, and constructing buildings that improve their troops. The game also features two-player cooperative play.
