Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 brings together eight games, from Mega Man X through Mega Man X8, in which the combat robot X battles bosses known as Mavericks. In these action platformers, X grows stronger by defeating enemies and taking their weapons; dashing and wall jumping aid both movement and combat. Zero is playable in some entries, and Axl joins the cast in Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8, which use 3D character models and environments.
The collection also features X Challenge, a series of fights against pairs of bosses. Its museum includes production art, merchandise catalogs, commercials, and other material. An animated prequel film about Sigma's origins is included as well.
