Metal Torrent is a vertically scrolling shooter in which a lone ship ventures into enemy territory and fights off waves of attackers. The goal is to clear eight stages and achieve the highest score possible. Players can choose between two fighters designed for different skill levels, while pattern and random modes offer different levels of challenge.
Both ships carry an unlimited-fire blaster, along with a unique special weapon that consumes energy. Destroyed enemies leave energy cubes that replenish the energy gauge and add to the score. Collecting several cubes in succession creates a chain for an additional score boost. Scores can be uploaded to online leaderboards, and replays of top-ranked players’ runs can be viewed.
