Rogue State

A geopolitical strategy game set in a Middle Eastern country recovering from revolution. After the corrupt monarchy is overthrown, the new leader of the People's Republic of Basenji must hold onto power while balancing the interests of fundamentalists, capitalists, patriots, and liberals. The leader's brother, Farouk, is also consolidating influence and poses a threat to the regime.

The player appoints cabinet members, manages relations with neighboring countries, and decides how to develop the economy and maintain public support. Options include forging alliances, promoting tourism and trade, invading other countries, and pursuing clandestine projects; decisions shape relations with other leaders and the United States. Random events and changing circumstances call for different approaches in each playthrough, while domestic problems can be addressed through either more liberal or more repressive policies.
