Silent Hunter 3 — the player is given command of a German submarine from the Second World War. The game includes 5 training missions, a dynamic campaign and single (one-time) missions. A three-dimensional encyclopedia of ships and aviation of that period for various countries is available from the main menu. The objectives of solo and training missions are explained before they are launched. Before each mission, the player is given the opportunity to choose the level of gameplay realism: the vulnerability of enemy ships and ships, his submarine, defective torpedoes, periscope stabilization, etc.
