The player takes the role of an Uplink Agent, carrying out jobs for major corporations by breaking into rival systems, stealing research data, sabotaging companies, laundering money, erasing evidence, and framing innocent people.
Earnings can be spent on computer upgrades, software, and tools, while gaining experience unlocks more dangerous and profitable missions. The agent can also speculate on and influence the stock market, alter people’s academic and criminal records, divert bank transfers into personal accounts, and take part in the creation of a computer virus.
