Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: The Reliquary Walkthrough

In the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you will encounter many thrilling quests, and one of them introduces gamers to deceit under the guise of virtue. In this guide, we will tell you how to find the legendary sword of Sir Valentine as you progress through the side quest The Reliquary.
How to Start The Reliquary Quest
Head to the Sedlec Monastery in the Kuttenberg region. From the entrance, turn left and move towards the hill, following the marker on the map. There you will find the camp of the Humble Knight.
He will tell you the legend of Sir Valentine, who two hundred years ago accompanied the abbot of Sedlec on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. According to the legend, Valentine scattered holy land on the monastery's territory, and his legendary sword was buried with him.
The knight will ask you to infiltrate the monastery, bring the sword for him to look at, and then return it to the grave for the deceased's rest. He will also advise you to find Brother Morticius, who is looking for assistants for the church's needs. If you do him a favor, he can help you in return. Agreeing to help will start the quest.
Talk to Brother Morticius
Head to the Sedlec Monastery and find Brother Morticius. He will assign you an unusual task. Agreeing to help will start the side quest "Thou art but dust...", during which you will enter the chapel's crypt.
Once in the crypt, turn right from the barrel and enter the next room. There you will find Valentine's sarcophagus. Open it, but you will find nothing inside. Carefully examine the sarcophagus lid — you will see an image of the sword on it, which will later allow you to forge an exact replica of the legendary weapon.
Forge a Fake Sword of Sir Valentine
Head to the nearest forge, for example, in the town of Kutná Hora. Local merchants will sell you the necessary materials for forging. Your task is to forge an exact replica of Sir Valentine's legendary sword.
You will need the following materials to craft the sword:
- Copper (1).
- Straight guard (1).
- Cowhide (1).
- Flat pommel (1).
- Frankfurt steel (1).
- Iron scrap (1).
Once the sword is ready, head to the Humble Knight.
Bring the Sword of Sir Valentine to the Knight
Return to the Humble Knight's camp. Tell him that the sword was not found in Valentine's grave, but by carefully studying the engraving on the sarcophagus lid, you managed to forge an exact replica of the legendary weapon. In response, the knight will unexpectedly declare that he must kill you — after all, you might tell someone that the sword is fake. He will then confess that he is not actually a knight, but an antiquarian, a buyer of ancient relics.
You have two options for how events can unfold. You can try to resolve the situation peacefully by passing a persuasion check with the skill of impressiveness. If successful, the antiquarian will agree to a trade: he will give you the tooth of Saint Apollonia, and you will give him Valentine's sword. If you fail to convince him, you will have to fight and kill him.
After this, the quest will end. If you peacefully negotiated with the antiquarian, you can secretly pick his pockets and chest — you will find many valuables there. The same can be done in the event of his death.
Alternative Quest Completion
After activating the quest, you have the option to immediately infiltrate the crypt through an underground entrance by picking the lock on the door. After examining the sarcophagus, you can go to the Humble Knight and inform him that you found nothing in Valentine's grave. In response, he will ask you to forge a copy of the sword, and from this point, the quest will continue to develop according to the usual scenario.
To successfully complete the quest, you must bring the sword to the Humble Knight. If you kill him before this moment, the quest will fail. You won't receive particularly valuable rewards for completing the task, so the only way to enrich yourself is to secretly loot the antiquarian's camp, finding many valuables there. However, the most important thing is that you became part of an exciting story with an unexpected twist, which will long be remembered for its unusual ending.
