Fantastyka / średniowiecze
Gry osadzone w fantastyce i średniowieczu są do siebie podobne, ponieważ wymyślona fantastyczna epoka opiera się na rzeczywistej. Różnicą jest obecność magii w świecie fantasy, a także wymyślone zwierzęta i rasy. W pozostałych aspektach osadzenia są podobne: wysoki poziom bandytyzmu i bezprawia, poruszanie się na dużych odległościach pieszo lub na koniu, częste walki z użyciem tarcz, mieczy, łuków, kusz, sztyletów i innej broni z czasów średniowiecza. Czasami do gatunku dodawane są elementy steampunku, teslapunku i innych wariantów alternatywnej historii.
