Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Dragon's Lair Walkthrough

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you have a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in various stories and explore their mysteries. For example, in the Kuttenberg region, there are rumors about mysterious dragons residing in the south. In this guide, we will tell you how to find dragon bones and describe all the available endings of the Dragon's Lair quest.
How to Start the Dragon's Lair Quest
In the second story region of Kuttenberg, head to the village of Bilany and talk to the innkeeper. He will tell you about someone who discovered dragon bones, and now a priest named Slava is dealing with this matter. You will find him in the courtyard, under the tree to the left of the chapel. Father Slava will tell you that a local woodcutter stumbled upon dragon bones, and this should be reported to the abbey. The quest will begin as soon as you agree to deliver the letter to the abbot.
Deliver the Message to the Abbot
Head to the eastern gates of Kutna Hora. Before entering the city, turn right and go straight until you see the church on the right. Enter its territory and find the abbot — he is sitting on a bench at the back of the building with his companion.
Talk to the abbot, and he will ask you to find the bones and take them to Father Slava for destruction. However, before heading to Bilany, talk to his companion Gerhard. He will offer you a reward if you bring the bones to him. We advise you to agree to his offer, as you won't have the opportunity to sell the bones later if you change your mind.
Return to Slava
Return to the settlement of Bilany and deliver the abbot's request to the priest. At the end of the dialogue, the holy father will ask the main character to go to the woodcutter. According to him, the man should know where to find the bones. Soon, you will be met by the alchemist Leopold, accompanied by several guards, and he will try to find out information about the bones.
The negotiations can lead to the following outcomes:
- You said nothing to the alchemist, successfully using persuasion or intimidation.
- You said nothing to the alchemist, failing the persuasion or intimidation check. However, you will have to fistfight his guards.
- You let the priest tell everything he knows about the bones.
The outcomes of this meeting will not affect anything further.
Talk to Vasek
Find the woodcutter Vasek — he can be found either at the inn or at the woodcutter's camp. He will tell you that you are not the only one looking for the bones. You will have to make a choice: either pay him for the information or try to persuade him to tell you where the bones are using your persuasion skills or other arguments.
Find the Bones by Description
Head south from the village of Bilany towards the woodcutter's camp. Continue along this road until you reach the nearest stream. Then turn right and follow along the right bank. Along the way, you will encounter a bandit camp, and you will have to decide whether to bypass them or fight, as this is not related to your task. Continue along the stream to the very end until you find the fossils.
Dig Up the Dragon Bones
You will extract three ancient bones from the ground. Claimants will soon arrive at the excavation site: alchemist Leopold accompanied by two fighters and a troop commander with three soldiers. The further development of events will depend on your choice, which will determine whether you can leave with one or all of the bones.
Available options:
- You demonstrated your intimidation skills and managed to leave without a fight, taking all the bones. This is the most difficult way to resolve the situation. If you fail, you will have to fight alone against everyone.
- You managed to convince everyone to split the bones equally. Everyone gets one bone. In case of failure, everyone will fight for themselves.
- You decided not to team up with anyone. Everyone fights for themselves. When everyone is injured, the fight will stop, and everyone will have the opportunity to take one bone or continue fighting to the end. The optimal solution is to agree to the division, and then, when everyone disperses, finish them off from behind.
- You renounced your claims to the bones. You will be considered a liar, and everyone will attack you.
- You took all the bones. During the journey along the stream, you met the troop commander alone and killed him. When you found the bones, you convinced the alchemist to retreat. Or, failing the check, you killed him along with the guards.
- You took all the bones. Before starting the excavation, wait for night. If you dig after midnight, no one will interfere with your search.
Deliver the Bones to Slava
Bring the bones to the village of Bilany and hand them over to Father Slava. By giving him the bones, you will complete the quest and receive verbal thanks from the church. You also have the option to lie and give only one bone. If you handed all the bones to Father Slava, try to steal them. After this, you can take the bones to Gerhard.
Take the Bones to Gerhard
Head to the inn located at the western gates of the town of Kutna Hora. In the dining room on the first floor, you will find Gerhard. Give him the bones in exchange for a small monetary reward. Keep in mind that if you decide to give the bones to Gerhard, the quest will be completed, but Father Slava will no longer want to communicate with you.
Alternative Walkthrough of the Dragon's Lair Quest
Find the bones before the quest begins. Go to Slava and take the task to deliver the message to the abbot.
As a result, you can:
- Give the bones to the abbot.
- Take them to Slava.
- Sell them to Gerhard for a good amount and a ring.
Even if you have only one bone left, you can steal it from Father Slava and sell it to Gerhard. The size of the reward does not depend on the number of bones. In this guide, we have detailed all possible endings and developments of this story.
